First run

With OtoDock installed and running, open the dashboard to set up your platform. It takes a couple of minutes: create your account, connect an AI engine, and say hello to your first agent.

1. Open the dashboard

Go to your OtoDock address (e.g. http://your-server:8400, or your public URL). On a brand-new install you're greeted by the setup wizard.

2. Create your administrator account

Enter a display name, email, and a strong password. This first account is the owner — a protected administrator that can't be deleted or demoted. You'll add more users (and, if you want, sign-in with SSO) later from the Users page.

note

The "create administrator" step only works while the platform has no users. Once your owner account exists this screen disappears, and additional users are invited by an admin.

3. Meet your assistant

The moment setup finishes, OtoDock installs Personal Assistant Lite — your ready-to-use starting agent — along with the tools it needs. It's the one agent that ships with the platform; you'll add more later by installing them from the community catalog or creating your own.

Offline installs

If your server can't reach the internet during setup, this step is skipped — no harm done. Install the assistant any time afterward from Browse Community on the Agents page.

4. Connect your AI

Your agents need an AI engine to run on. As the owner you can connect one from Setup → AI Engines (the admin page) or from your own User Settings → AI Engines — both feed the same platform. Connect your Claude or ChatGPT subscription (or an API key, or a local model); because you're the owner, that connection can also power the platform's shared agents — a checkbox that's on by default. A banner reminds you until at least one engine is active.

5. Start your first chat

Open your assistant from the Agents grid and send a message. Its reply streams in live — text, reasoning, tool calls, and any files it creates. That's it: you're running agents on your own OtoDock.

A couple of things to know

  • Timezone. OtoDock picks up your server's timezone on first install — it drives schedules and timestamps. Change it any time under Setup → System Settings.
  • License. Apply your license key under Setup → OtoDock to unlock additional seats. See otodock.io/pricing.
